I just spent a pleasant evening listening to a group of Clarion Music alumni perform in a jazz octet at the Autumn Leaf Festival Cultural Night in downtown Clarion. Performing were:
Scott DiTullio - trumpet
Bob Harris - alto sax
Jeff Puhala - tenor sax
Mike Krach- bari sax
David Hepler - drums
Brian Rosen - bass
Paul Stahlman - piano
Tom Zeller (not a Clarion alum) - trombone - rounded out the octet.

In a surprise move earlier this month, the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Rachelle Prioleau, resigned her position as Dean effective immediately with a yet-to-be-named Interim Dean named by the Provost at the beginning of the Fall 2012 term. Dr. Prioleau will assume a teaching position in the Department of Communication. She was appointed Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences in 2007.

As mentioned in a previous post, Clarion University President, Karen Whitney, initiated a tool used to compare the fiscal "health" of each program across the university called a "scorecard." Scorecards compare a wide variety of variables across each program on campus, toward identifying programs that are in need of revision or elimination. There's nothing like the start of summer to unwind a little from the hectic pace of the school year.
